CARL JOSEPH TOESCHI (1731 - 1788)

Carl Joseph Toeschi was born in Mannheim, Germany in 1731. Alessandro Toeschi, a composer and
violinist in the Mannheim orchestra. Carl Studied with Johann Stamitz and Anton Fils, and joined the Mannheim orchestra as
a violinist in 1752. In 1759 he was made Konzertmeister. He followed Carl Theodor's court when it moved to Münich in 1778.
Toeschi spent considerable time in Paris where, around 1770, he was considered one of Germanys leading
symphonists. He died on April 12th 1788.
Toeschi wrote more than sixty symphonies, many ballets, around twenty flute concertos, over
thirty flute quartets, and other chamber works.
